Future Caps Fan?

We attended the Wizards Draft Party a few weeks ago.

Lucy enjoyed climbing the stairs,

drinking from the water fountain,

and creating a poster for the Wizards’ first draft pick, Jan Vesely — the “Dunking Ninja” from the Czech Republic — based one of her favorite children’s books “Yo, Yes!”

But her favorite athlete of the night wasn’t a present or future member of the Wiz at all.

Maybe the allure was his missing front tooth, but it soon became clear.

She had a big crush on this Alex Ovechkin yard statue.

Hopefully it was just his height, because we are definitely not a hockey family (though Tio Tony was a Florida Panthers fan for a while). Maybe she’ll grow out of it…
