Telling Stories
Week 9
This week's altar art is a collection of a dozen origami boxes folded out of Street Sense newspapers. The boxes sit empty representing the lack of food the Hebrew people had while wandering homeless around the desert. During the children's story, the children will gather manna from heaven, aka cotton balls, and place it on the altar, as part of a performance piece. The choice of using Street Sense for the boxes was deliberate. The mission of the Street Sense newspaper is to raise public awareness on the issues of homelessness and poverty in the city and to create economic opportunities for people experiencing homelessness.
