Why I want a playground
I have had a lot of playground activity this week, which has been both invigorating and exhausting. I want to tell you all about it, but I also want to go to bed. So I think I’ll blog more about that tomorrow when I can actually add links.
These pictures are from yesterday’s outing. We headed out to the National Portrait Gallery. There weren’t any other kids in the Kogod Courtyard. So after we ate a snack, we explored the exhibits. It went better than I expected.
Lucy has a new move, which is from the Chimney Sweeper’s “Step In Time” dance in Mary Poppins. She will drop to her knees and walk on her knees. A couple and a security guard started to chuckle. I told them that she was obsessed with musicals. I did my best to keep her off of the padded benches in the halls and galleries. We talked about the art and the people in the museum. We even spotted a picture of the interior courtyard in 1990. Wow, what a change. All in all, it was a success, especially considering we just missed a stabbing on 7th Street while walking over.
But by the time we were almost home, three quarters of the way down the H Street stairs in Gallery Place, Lucy gave up. I thought that I had a lot of patience as a mother until I reached this phase of walking for exercise. It has been a huge test for me. But I’m getting better. Yesterday I took some pictures instead of getting frustrated.
