Today was a surprise day spent with Lilly, Lucy’s second cousin. Heather sent us a text while we were at the Greensboro Children’s Museum to see if we wanted to meet for lunch. Then I asked if Lilly could join us at the museum afterwards. I think the girls had a lot of fun.
On our drive to Lilly’s house, Lilly told Henry about drawing in the studio after we returned home for a snack. Good to know pencils and paper are just as fun as the museum. I think this is the most art this studio will see for the month of June. And maybe July.
While in the car, Henry told someone we were headed to DC a week from today. Wow! These weeks are flying by and we seem to be unpacking slowly but surely. I would love to return and find a magic fairy had completed my list of house chores. It is two notebook pages long. As much as I love my patio and hydrangeas, there is something nice about not having to worry about your crawl space and two years worth of pin oak leaves. Both of which seemed to have settled something deep in my chest.
So I’m exhausted, but pleasantly surprised by our full week of activities despite the full days of unpacking and house work. I did have a nightmare this morning that mixed my worlds of art, play spaces and being a landlord into one. A drag queen even walked by. I guess even my psyche knows we aren’t settled yet. But I hope to be much closer by next week.
