The Move Begins

The dismantling of the church began early last week. Sarah and I were there as Jesus was removed from the back wall of St. Philip’s.

This week the building continues to be prepared for the move. Recent press has started as the process continues. We expect more in the coming weeks as the church literally rolls down North Carolina’s main streets.These are two stories published last week:

• The Stokes News bid farewell to St. Philip’s.
• The Winston-Salem Journal includes a narrated video of the church.

We continue to lament the loss of the building. As a member of both Friends of St. Philip’s and the ecumenical Epsicopal congregation, I would have much appreciated being able to enter the building one single time during this entire process. Alas, the Bishop repeatedly said no.
