We hosted our first Downtown DC Kids Pop-Up Play event today! It was a great success. We are guessing we had around 125 people. At one point there were 50 kids in the room. Needless to say, we are pooped after a full day. But we had a lot of fun. Even Jojo seemed to enjoy setting up the Imagination Playground for us. Wow!
But the kids had no fear dismantling his creation.
Having only seen Imagination Playground online, I wasn’t sure how well it would work for the tiniest of tots. Fantastic! If you can toddle with something in your hand, then you can participate.
Amazingly, there were few screams of “mine,” but I witnessed lots of team work taking place. And after all of the talk about loose parts and free play, I am a total Imagination Playground convert. I should have made some videos of the kids in action.
KaBOOM! has lots of grants available to buy this equipment. So the application process has jumped to the top of my to do list. I’m very excited. And I’m thankful that Henry forced me to take a break to build something with Lucy. I’ll download those pictures tomorrow.
