My huge mess
I have spent the last four hours or so carving “take off your shoes” out of this book board. Henry worked pretty late tonight, but not late enough to have this step of my burning bush project finished. My right hand is hurting and will probably be killing me by the morning. Plus, I’m starting to second guess the wording. I guess i should have checked the verse first. A good journalist knows better than that. Should it be “take your shoes off”? Good thing there are a gazillion translations of the Bible. Oh well, I’m not starting over now.

I think “take off your shoes” is PERFECT. NRSV says 3:5 Then he said, “Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground,” but I think if God were talking to us today she would definitely say “take off your shoes”!
Thanks, Amy! That makes me feel better.
I think that I might have heard “take off your shoes” in a Disney movie about Moses.
