Lucy’s View
I just put Lucy down for the night. I thought I’d take a look at her
view. It looks pretty sweet. It’s a soft blend of the outside and
inside. The Red Roof Inn is to the right and her Chinese lanterns to
the left. A fuzzy full moon hangs gently above the little girl in
yellow standing beneath the jade tree I rescued from Grandma Merritt’s
many years ago.
The ceramic figure is actually a man dressed in knickers, but I prefer
this view from the back. To me she is a young girl from the Forties
gazing out into the world.
What am I going to do once Lucy outgrows her Moses basket? I can roll
her crib beneath the window, but only until the artic breeze rolls
through. Here’s hoping for a mild first winter.
