Happy New Year!
It’s (a very late) nap time and fireworks are rumbling in the background. Someone told us he took the bus back from NYC last night just to see the fireworks from today’s Chinese New Year Festivities in Chinatown. New York doesn’t permit fireworks like DC does. The fireworks scare off the devil, so that’s a pretty good reason to cut your weekend trip short. Lucy and I went out to watch the parade. Then we headed over to the Chinatown Cultural Community Center, where I was reunited with Monica, my Chinese Brush Painting teacher. Then we spent a lot of time watching some older kids sing songs in Chinese to receive a paper rabbit sculpture. I was pretty certain Lucy was willing to take the bull horn, but she was never given a chance. That’s okay. We received a lighted rabbit on the parade route.
