Happy Earth Day!
Every day should be Earth Day.
In preparation, I went to the library to check out what’s new. I picked up several books on a few of my favorite topics – gardening, art and the environment.
I thought that it is even more fitting to check out a book about the environment than actually buy one. A lot of the recent environmental trends seem to focus on new things that you can buy. Hmmm… I don’t think that is really the point. Unless you are buying something once so that you won’t buy a lot of other things that you will throw away. Like a refillable water bottle. Or this super cute refillable coffee tumbler that perfectly holds a tall vanilla latte from Starbucks. Too bad you have to hand wash it.
So for this Earth Day, I am going to treat it as a mini New Year’s and make a few environmental resolutions. Yes, I am already pretty green, but there is so much more that I can do. Right? Can’t we all. It has to be more than just changing light bulbs. Like the mug says, “Grow.” So here’s my list.
1. Turn off both computers every night.
2. Suck it up and lead the Green Team at Calvary. Even if it seems a little much.
3. Make/find cloth napkins.
4. Buy a reusable filter for our a/c.
5. Finally recycle my batteries and small electronic goods, including giving my broken iPhone to Ryan.
