We headed back to the Triangle today to run a few errands. We started out in Downtown Durham and then headed over to Southpoint Mall to pick up a package. It was a beautiful day and Lucy insisted on riding with the windows down.
When we left Downtown Durham, I told Henry we could take Fayetteville Street to Southpoint. We had a lot of time to kill. So we decided to go for it even though my memory was pretty foggy. That’s when Lucy first insisted that we roll the windows down. Traffic was stopped and several people were walking through the street as we drove through NC Central’s campus.
Next thing I know, Lucy and her dad both have the windows down and she is screaming for him to make shapes with his hand. She was screaming rabbit, dog, man, bush… The list goes on. I was so preoccupied that I couldn’t even concentrate on what she was saying. My first thought was I hope this doesn’t get misinterpreted as gang signs. My next thought was “fa fa fa fa.”
In case you missed it, Nelson Mandela’s funeral featured a fake sign language interpreter. My favorite video is on the interpretation of what he was actually signing. Henry insists that this was also a fake interpretation. I do not know. But it is hilarious.
My guess is that I am the last person on the planet to know about international news. Even my mom made an Amazon Drone reference before I had really heard the full story. Last week she told me she had extra Christmas lights. She told me she would send a droid over to deliver them.
