Amy’s Arrangement + A Bulging Bookshelf

I have immensely enjoyed this beautiful floral arrangement by Amy, while spending the entire day inside hiding from the heat. Amy often speaks of her creative urges and I think this one medium where she has successfully blossomed!

We had an excellent weekend. But it felt like it flew by! My parents came up to visit and deliver the missing nursery items. So other than some cleaning and organization, my nursery is 95% complete. I have a few more purchases to make, a few more pictures to hang and a baby to birth. But other than that I am ready.

We also enjoyed a lovely baby shower hosted by Laura, Meredith and Lizzie, which is where I picked up these flowers. I was completely bowled over by the food, decor and games. Yes, the baby games were actually fun! I can’t wait to post pictures of Henry and Edgar taking the games so seriously. Who says men hate baby showers! I believe that they had a lot of fun.

The theme of the shower was bring your favorite childrens book. I loved it! Carol brought some of her favorite books to decorate the space. As I walked around the room, I was secretly hoping that these were all for me. I must admit that I LOVE childrens books. I can never have too many, despite some of the attendees’ fears. But it was great. I think that Henry’s new favorite is Buenas Noches, Gorila. I am fully expecting for Leah to come over during lunch to read Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Big Book. And I am thrilled that Amelia picked out a set of little chunky books that will fit perfectly in the baby’s hands! Plus, I will also think of Margaret as I read the classic Goodnight Moon, which Amy promises I will read over and over again. Plus there were so many more… Thank you! thank you! thank you!

It was a great time and a wonderful escape from downtown on a beautiful spring day. Thanks so much to my gracious hosts! You can’t beat a great group of Southern women. If you ever find yourself surrounded by such, hold on fast. These are the friends you want to keep close by your side.

I am still a believer in children’s books. That is one thing we never deny our boys!!!!

My dad forgot the seat cushion. Plus I ordered a couple of prints. They are in the mail. So once I get those items up, I will post more pictures.

I know! I just love children’s books. I even considered a way to fit them into my graduate work many years ago! It didn’t happen, but I still think they are the best.
